Poisoner-in-Chief

Yesterday and wonderfully friends expressed concern for my well-being after my publishing a blog post about my mother’s persecution at the hands of Dr. Evil.

We’ve known what happened to her since the ’80s, and the story of MKUltra and psychiatric experimentation on the vulnerable has had considerable exposure, albeit mostly in the world of the clinically paranoid. Nevertheless, there is solid documentation available. Recently, the Guardian, Politico, Publishers Weekly, NPR, etc have reported on MKUltra, and a new book, Poisoner-in-Chief has unearthed more data on what happened and who was destroyed by it. Why is it gaining attention now? I think because our increasing awareness of the permanent deep state has cleared the way for the awareness of its most malignant program: government inflicting unnecessary anguish on its weakest citizens.

I’ve signed onto a direct action against the University, the Hospital and the federal government under whose umbrella and funding the experiments took place. It may be that the defendants are willing to put the whole nasty thing behind them. Don’t blame them – I sure as hell would think twice about going to a University with this history and I certainly wouldn’t leave it any money.

However, if you read into the journals, medical researchers are still calling these brutalities a “Golden Age” of innovation. The men who tortured orphaned children, prisoners and the mentally disabled, as well as accomplished women in their prime, are still respected and their work is still embedded in the mental health system. Ewan Cameron’ techniques were widely adopted all over the world, and deep into the 90s, he was still being praised as an innovator.

Early on in his career, Cameron was associated with Linus Pauling and Dr. Abram Hoffer, the head of Psychiatry for a Canadian province. Dr. Hoffer experimented with LSD on the mentally ill, but after discovering what Cameron did with Hoffer’s research, quit the profession, moved to Vancouver Island and began healing the mentally ill with nutritional supplements. Hoffer found in case after case after case, schizophrenia could be cured, that’s right, cured using Niacin, one of the cheapest B vitamins around. Two members of my extended family were treated by Hoffer, and in both cases, their illness vanished. Entirely. That his work isn’t front and center in every single hospital and treatment center is evidence of the enduring power of man’s brutality to man.

I am not weakened by looking at what happened to my mother. She healed herself using nutrition and exercise and sheer confoundedness. She was not schizophrenic. She was diagnosed as such for the sake of the evil men who thought up this entire program. I think we lost about 30% of her to Cameron’s cruelty and ambition, as well as the boundless stupidity and evil of the bureaucrats that funded him. But around the age of 40, nearly all the stories I was given by editors centered around false imprisonment and torture. I am an empath as are most children of damaged parents, so I got to feel every interviewees emotion. It grew me the fuck up and taught me that my fear is nothing compared to the good I can do by looking evil in the face and reporting on it. I don’t coddle my child self because of this, I take care of her, buy her some presents, and then I leave and I fight.
